As artificial intelligence becomes more advanced, East River has been researching how this tech can be beneficial to specific radiological procedures. We want to be on the cutting edge of this progress, aiding in the advancement of medicine by using state-of-the art tools and other innovations. In fact, East River is a Cleerly-certified practice, employing Cleerly’s “clinically-proven, AI-based platform,” which boosts the functionality of our Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA) imaging. The CCTA scan is a non-invasive imaging test that maps out a patient’s heart blood flow. Cleerly’s platform facilitates the work of our doctors by accurately identifying and interpreting certain heart conditions early, allowing for more effectual patient care plans.
On Tuesday, March 26th, East River received a Cleerly award for reaching the highest current score on the image clarity scale, surpassing all other practices assessed (numbering 200 in total). It is so gratifying to be recognized for this achievement, especially by Cleerly, which is on a mission to eliminate heart disease by utilizing AI to properly diagnose and prevent this condition by assessing plaque placement and providing more concise data for CCTA imaging. You can read Cleerly’s LinkedIn post about the award here.
Here at East River, we use the GE Revolution Apex CT Scanner to conduct CCTA procedures. Through this process, our doctors can evaluate plaque buildup in the arteries. Plaque is an umbrella term that can refer to cholesterol, fat, or other substances that impede blood flow. And atherosclerosis is the buildup of that plaque. This condition is dangerous because plaque ruptures can cause arterial blockages—potentially leading to heart attack or stroke. Due to the seriousness of these circumstances, early detection of atherosclerosis and other blood flow issues is imperative to more effective treatment.
Using Cleerly’s AI technology, we’re able to obtain a comprehensive report pinpointing the amount of calcified (typically less concerning) and non-calcified (typically more concerning) plaque. It also enables us to track the progression of the diagnosis and longevity of a condition. By working with Cleerly, East River is aligning itself with innovative technology that has the capability to change lives.
Receiving this award from Cleerly is a testament to the fact that not only is East River always investing in healthcare initiatives to improve our level of care, but also that our current imaging techniques are remarkable. Thank you for helping us achieve this great honor!
